Amid a spike, in the Covid-19 cases in the country, the Manipur Government in an order announced the closure of three Ima Keithals and temporary markets for ten days.
However, the order further mentions that the shops will be opened on a rotation basis.
The decision was taken following the rising trend of Covid-19 cases in the country. In the biggest daily increase yet, India reported 2.95 lakh cases of the novel coronavirus and 2,023 deaths in the 24 hours on Wednesday. India’s Covid-19 tally is now 1,56,16,130, with a death toll of 1,82,553. There are 21,57,538 active cases in the country.
“In view of the rising Covid cases in the country, the State Government is taking up the following measures to contain the spread of Covid cases in Manipur,” Chief Minister N. Biren Singh tweeted.
It needs to be mentioned here that the Manipur government has already imposed a night curfew in the entire State from 7 pm to 5 am.
Earlier, the Manipur government has ordered to suspend “physical classes” in all schools. It has also postponed board exams for classes X and XII as a pre-emptive measure against the rise of COVID-19 cases.
“The scheduled examination for Board Of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) and Council Of Higher Secondary Education Manipur examination have been postponed due to the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the state,” an official statement said on Monday.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the active cases in Manipur stands at 385 and the cumulative number of confirmed cases is more than 29,000. Till now 378 people have died due to the Coronavirus in the state.
The recovery rate in the state to date is at 97.44% whereas 29,106 infected persons have recovered from the virus.
As per the latest state health data, the total number of persons vaccinated for COVID-19 in the state is 1,10,614.
