A primary school in Hailakandi District of Assam was damaged after two bomb blasts were triggered by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday afternoon, near the state’s border with Mizoram.
The blast took place at Kachurthal area of the district damaging the Muliwala Lower Primary School. No casualties were reported and investigations are going on. Meanwhile, security has been stepped up in the area.
The blast happened almost seven months after tension emerged along the Assam-Mizoram border for days in October and November last year. Several people were injured in a clash between the people of Cachar district of Assam and Mizorams Kolasib district, during which a number of makeshift huts were torched.
The Assam Mizoram border has been facing a border conflict for decades. The dispute that flared up last year resulted in economic blockades and both the state and central government intervened to resolve the crisis.
