The newly formed regional parties from Assam- Assam Jatiya Parishad AJP and Raijor Dal RD have announced their alliance ahead of the upcoming assembly polls likely to be held in April this year.
The two regional parties were born as an outcome of the anti-CAA protests, both the parties have decided to contest the coming assembly polls together. They have further decided not to have any tie-up with the Congress-AIUDF front.
This alliance has been finalised after AJP President Lurinjyoti Gogoi met Akhil Gogoi, President, Raijor Dal, at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Thursday.
AJP was launched by the All Assam Students Union and Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad, whereas RD was formed by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti led by jailed leader Akhil Gogoi, who is in jail since December 2019 for his role in the anti-CAA protests.
